The Drop by Moonlight was designed to solve a key limitation found in most earplugs: the occlusion effect. This is the muffled, “head-in-a-bubble” or underwater sensation caused by trapped sound vibrations in the ear canal when wearing traditional hearing protection.

To overcome this, the project went through multiple rounds of prototyping to refine the product’s scale, comfort, and overall feel. Each iteration was used to test and improve how the Drop sat within the ear, ensuring a secure yet comfortable fit.

Special focus was placed on the silicone inserts, which were ergonomically designed to adapt comfortably to a wide range of ear shapes. Alongside this, a key internal add-on component housed within the Drop was engineered to significantly reduce the occlusion effect, improving airflow and sound perception within the ear canal.

The result is a refined earplug system that balances comfort, fit, and acoustic performance, delivering a far more natural listening experience compared to conventional designs.
